The New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom: A survival guide!

The new Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom! It’s new and exciting. Although it isn’t completely done (that darn mine cart ride has been keeping us all waiting) there are enough things in this area to keep anyone busy. When you walk into the Magic Kingdom and gaze upon Cinderellas beautiful castle it almost puts you in a trance. It calls to you telling you this is the moment for kids of all ages to let loose and have a little fun! So, you finally made it to the wondrous New Fantasyland! Then something happens… You look around you and realize there are so many things to do and see how can you do it all in one day?! Never fear for I am here to help you through this crisis. At the end of this post be sure to check out the “Bonus section” for a few hidden Mickeys in this area as well!

The first thing you have to do in the New Fantasyland is begin to obtain Fastpasses. The first one you should go for is Peter Pan’s Flight. This is one of the most popular attractions in this area and the line will get very long very quickly and those Fastpasses disappear very early. For any of you wondering what a Fastpass is it is this magic little ticket that you can get that holds your place in line. The ticket will have a time on it meaning that you can enter the attraction for a minimal wait during the hour that your ticket indicates! Pretty awesome right?!

OK, you have your Fastpass for Peter Pans flight and now you need to fill the time before your fastpass time! You now have a few options for what to do next. It is dependent on the amount of time that you have before your Fastpass is valid. You can head over to It’s a Small World and enjoy this classic. Here is a challenge for you… try to finish the ride without humming a certain little tune to yourself! After Small World you can head on over to the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. If you have the time to do so now you can catch a ride The Mad Tea Pary Tea Cups. By now it should be time to use your passes but before you do that you should be able to get another one. The next Fastpass to get is going to be for Enchanted Tales with Belle!

After your ride on Peter Pan while you are waiting for Enchanted Tales with Belle you should be heading over to The Journey of The Little Mermaid. This ride should have a shorter line than the others but don’t be discouraged if the lines are getting longer! Be sure to get some pictures with Ariel after the ride in her Grotto! After The Little Mermaid head over to Philharmagic and enjoy the show! It will be nice to be inside as well as enjoying this amazing 3D musical number performed by all your favorite characters! After this hitch a ride on Prince Charmings Carousel. If you are interested in seeing Rapunzels “rest area” now would be a great time to do so. This area is very intricately decorated and you can search for Rapunzels friend Pascal hidden around the area (here is a hint: he is a chameleon and might not always be depicted in his usual green color!).  Then it should be time for Enchanted Tales with Belle.

 Ariels Castle!
 Rapunzels tower!

It is now time for a break. You can enjoy a snack at Gastons Tavern (and maybe even catch him outside for a photo) this tavern has a few great options but if you are looking for something very refreshing I would suggest a LeFou Brew. This is a very unique beverage and you will only be able to get it here at Gastons Tavern. While at the tavern feel free to wonder around and get a look at what Gaston meant by using antlers in all of his decorating.

Your Lefou Brew is gone! What is next?! Head on over to the Dumbo ride! This classic Magic Kingdom ride cannot be missed. You can catch some of your favorite Characters dressed for the Circus at Silly Pete’s for a Photo Op. Relax while the kids play in the water playground area called Casey Jrs and then hit Goofy’s Barnstormer coaster. After this ride you are right next to the train which is an awesome option to take to the next land on your Adventure!

Bonus Section:
  • ·         While in the line for Peter Pan’s Flight be sure to check out the tree (near where the regular line and the fastpass line merge). Some of the knots on the tree resemble a Classic Mickey.
  • ·         During Peter Pan’s Flight be sure to take a look at the moon in the attraction you may be able to see a Classic Mickey shape in the shadows!
  • ·         On The Journey of The Little Mermaid there are going to be 3 Purple corals that form a Classic Mickey shape
  • ·         Also during The Journey of The Little Mermaid keep a look out for some frogs that may have the shape of mickey on their backs.
  • ·         If you go to snap some photos with Ariel be sure to check out the last wall. Near the bottom on the left wall there is a profile of Mickey.
  • ·         While enjoying a Lefou brew out of a Gaston Stein be sure to check the section under Gastons picture! There are some rivets that form a Classic Mickey!

  1. So, reading this made me realize just HOW MUCH of New Fantasyland my daughter and I didn't get to do! I think it needs to be a full day in JUST Fantasyland, no other spots in the park, to be sure we get it all in. Hopefully next time...! :D Great post: two thumbs up!
