Walt Disney World: Unique Quick-Service Restaurants

When visiting the parks at Walt Disney World Resort there are way too many things to do and see during your stay that many people save the sit down meal for dinner-time. For this reason people often look to the Quick-Service restaurants that Disney Parks have to offer for their lunch. Usually these restaurants feature a Burger and fry platter and not much else (besides nuggets for the kids). For this reason eating multiple days at Quick-Service restaurants can become very redundant and boring. Break that boring streak with these unique Quick-Service options:

Magic Kingdom:
Sleepy Hollow:

Would you like to have a non-traditional lunch with a nice view of Cinderella’s Castle? Then you would enjoy lunch-time here!

Location: Between Cinderellas Castle and Liberty Square

Types of food: Waffle Sandwiches, Dessert Waffles, and Funnel Cakes

Recommendations: Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich and of course a classic Funnel Cake

Gaston's Tavern:

This is an amazing place to go for an interesting alternative to the usual Turkey Leg and a Soda. There are also many amazing things to see in Gaston’s Tavern. You may even catch a glimpse of Gaston outside (for more info see my New Fantasyland Post)

Location: New Fantasyland between Be Our Guest Restaurant and the new Little Mermaid ride

Types of food: Roasted Pork shank, and Le Fou Brew

Recommendations: I would not leave here without having both the Pork Shank and a Lefou Brew

Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Tavern:

This is a great place to go if you are all about the toppings bar! They have one of the most unique meals at Magic Kingdom in my opinion.

Location: Next to Splash Mountain in Frontierland

Types of food: Onion rings, Sweet Potato fries, Barbeque, Taco Salad, and a Steak and Chicken platter.

Recommendations: Taco Salad (the toppings bar has all the fixings for it so it is basically build your own taco salad), and Sweet Potato fries.

Epcot:

In Epcot there are plenty of places to eat and this is especially true in the World Showcase. Contrary to popular belief the World Showcase does have Quick-Service restaurants that serve rather authentic cuisine in each country. Here are a few of my favorites:

Katsura Grill:

Location: Japan Pavilion

Types of Food: Sushi, Teriyaki, Udon, and Sake

Recommendations: Teriyaki Chicken and a nice warm Sake on the side

Les Halles Boulangerie & Patisserie:

Location: France Pavilion
Types of Food: Croissant Sandwiches, Quiche, Pastries, and House wine

Recommendations: Ham and Cheese Quiche paired with a nice House White Wine

La Cantina de San Angel:

Location: Mexico Pavilion

Types of Food: Empanada, Tacos, and Nachos

Recommendations:  Taco de Pollo and of course a nice frozen Maragrita

Lotus Blossom cafe:

Location: China Pavilion

Types of Food: Orange Chicken, Pot Stickers, and Stir Fry

Recommendations: Some delicious Orange Chicken and a seat with a view

Tangierine Café:

Location: Morocco Pavilion

Types of Food: Mediterranean Wraps as well as Mediterranean style Chicken and Lamb

Recommendations: Schwarma Chicken platter and a Sangria

 Hollywood Studios:

Fairfax Fare:

This is the best place to eat at in Hollywood Studios if you love to people watch.

Location: Across from the Beauty and the Beast show

Types of food: Barbeque ribs, Barbeque pork sandwich, Gourmet HotDogs

Recommendations: Barbeque Chicken and a Yuengling! Or you could go behind this place to Rosie’s and have my Favorite Quick-Service burger in existence the onion straw burger!

Backlot Express:

This is a great place to eat if you are looking for something similar to the norm but with a twist. This is the place for you! Along with the yummy food there are a lot of interesting things to look at inside the restaurant.

Location: Next door to Star Tours

Types of food: Onion Straw Burger, Spicy Breaded Chicken Nuggets, Southwest Chicken Salad

Recommendations: The Onion Straw Burger is my favorite burger to have when I am visiting this park. The Spicy nuggets are also very good!

Bonus: High Octane Refreshments

This is THE place to visit to have an interesting adult beverage in Hollywood Studios!

Location: Across from the Studio Backlot Tour

Types of beverages: Draft Beer, Wine, Sangria, Assorted Rum drinks, Margaritas

Recommendations: Uh... do I have to pick one? Everything here is amazing and you should make multiple trips to Hollywood studios just to try them all!

Animal Kingdom:
Yak & Yeti Local food cafés:

Who would have thought that Animal Kingdom could do Asian food as good as Epcot does? I didn’t but this place sure does prove to you that it is in fact possible.

Location: In Asia

Types of food: Asian food including; Honey Chicken, Sweet and Sour, Beef Lo Mein, etc…

Recommendations: Chicken Fried Rice! This may be served as a side but it is a meal in itself and it is amazing! I would pair this with a Safari Amber.

Tamu Tamu Refreshments:

Somewhere fast and very convenient to get lunch and if you time it right you mat catch a glimpse of the show that is in that area,

Location: Africa near Kilimanjaro Safari

Types of food: Assorted Sandwiches

Recommendations: Roasted Chicken Salad Sandwich

Flame Tree Barbeque:

If you like BBQ food and Animal Kingdom this is where you should have your lunch! It also has a very nice seating area that seems secluded form the craziness of the park.

Location: Near the it’s tough to be a bug entrance and across the way from Disney outfitters

Types of food: all kinds of BBQ

Recommendations: BBQ Pork Sandwich and a Safari Amber

Bonus: Dawa Bar

This is a great place to sit back relax and have a delicious and strong drink at the bar.

Location: Africa near Kilimanjaro Safari

Types of beverages: Specialty Cocktails, Draft Beer, Wine

Recommendations: African Margarita and Dawa Colada!
